Today, to start cursive writing, we experimented with connecting strokes. We visited the Learning Commons and encouraged each other to try new authors or reading series. We viewed the targets set for sharing our understanding during and after reading for The One and Only Ivan. Today we worked specifically on adding detail to the setting in writing and pictures. Nikolas added turquoise to the list of rocks and minerals he has shared from his book. We looked at a second example of the rock cycle and decided which one was easier to understand and which one was more realistic. Math work included estimating items using 10 or 100 as a referent. Then, we used book orders to round to the nearest dollar.
Reminders: Today, students received a sheet to record ancestors. Please return it completed by Thursday (some people left without picking it up). No school on Friday. Spelling words are not posted because we are reviewing all words this week. Special Lunch is on Thursday. Performance for K-2 is on Wednesday evening.
Take care,
Mrs. Wilcox
