Another cold day! Today we determined some plans for the new year. Students chose a rock or mineral to research when we return. Making some point form notes over the winter break about your rock or mineral will help your research when you return. Make sure to record the source of the facts - internet site, book, interview, other, etc. We are also looking closely at aspects of quality of life specific to Tunisia, Ukraine, Peru and India, including: employment, transportation, role of family members, services, traditions, beliefs, languages, government, food and homes. Students have chosen one country and one aspect of quality of life to begin researching. Our focus with both tasks will be to write expository pieces with a main ideas and details. The winter break is a great time to brush up on 3 digit addition with and without regrouping as we will be moving on to subtracton after the break. Speed and accuracy with basic facts are helpful in these tasks. The break is also a great time to review and practice the letters we have worked on in cursive writing: c, a, d, g, t, h, p and e in both upper and lower case, in words and in sentences.
Reminders: Report cards will come home tomorrow. Spelling quiz tomorrow. Caroling and Pj's (can include hats and stuffies if you like) tomorrow.
Have a great break everyone. Stay warm and safe travels,
Mrs. Wilcox
