Comment Challenge: Name one interesting fact you learned at today's special presentation about rocks and minerals.
Today we got to be young geologists and learn about so many interesting aspects of rocks and minerals. A huge thank-you to Sebastien's mom Jenny for sharing her knowledge with us. We created sedimentary rocks called conglomerate, and drilled for oil the delicious way. We checked our printing goals after the last printing mission today. All special printing agents should now be using the skills of titles and dates on daily work, spacing lines and words on the line, sticking letters to the line, forming each upper and lower case letter correctly, making sure letters with tails hang below the line and printing at a pace that allows for tasks to be completed. Good luck printing agents - continue battling the evil printing forces in your daily work. In Math, we did a check up on comparing and ordering numbers to 1000. Vocabulary we looked at from Social Studies today included: citizen, access, capital city, culture, centre, elected, and ancestors. Students should be familiar with these terms.
Reminders: Spelling test Thursday. No school Friday. See the post from Friday for upcoming field trip volunteer needs. Let me know if you are available to join us. Thanks.
Stephen’s Backpacks!
It is that time of year again to start going through your child's toys and books. The grade 1s will be hosting a TOY AND BOOK SALE to support Stephen's Backpack Society on November 24, 2016 for the entire day. Please send in any gently used toys and/or books starting on November 21. We will also accept cash donations. All of the money raised this year will be used to purchase backpacks filled with items like books, toothbrushes, and toys for children that live on the streets in Calgary. For more information about this program please go to the Stephen's Backpack Society at http://www.stephensbackpacks.com.
Have a great Monday,
Mrs. Wilcox
