Comment Challenge: How many different solutions to the Magic Triangle problem can you find? (Remember each of the row of the 3 numbers has to have a sum of 9)
Good afternoon students and families!
Today was a very eggciting day! Students received some specific and helpful feedback to help contain and protect their eggs in their structure they built and after students had the opportunity to revise their structures. We then went outside and dropped the structures from a 6 foot ladder. We did have some egg survivors! Students should be able to explain what important features of the design and materials impacted their structures ability to contain and protect their egg from breaking or cracking or why their egg didn't survive the fall.
In Math, students played with the numbers 1-6 on a problem called the Magic Triangle which is the picture displayed above. Students should be able to explain the criteria and rules of this problem. Together we discussed 1 of the possible solutions and the strategies to help us complete the Magic Triangle. Tomorrow we will share the rest of our solutions!
We finished the afternoon off with an egg blowing demonstration to show one of the important steps in making traditional Ukranian Pysanky eggs. We watched a video that demonstrated the detailed and delicate process of making Pysanky eggs. We also looked at some real hand made eggs. Tomorrow we will look at the symbolic designs and colours and their meanings. Students will draw a Pysanky egg with designs and symbols as a rough draft to help replicate when they make and paint their own Pysanky eggs on Friday.
Reminders:
1. Spelling Quiz is on Friday.
2. Students signed up from Mrs. Wilcox's and Mr. Mackenzie's class for Knitting Club will be tomorrow at lunch in the Learning Commons this week.
3. Bow Habitat Field trip to the Fish Hatchery is on Tuesday, April 11.
4. Music Rock and Roll Performance on Thursday, April 20.
Enjoy the warm weather!
See you tomorrow.
