Comment Challenge: Name some important features of a country's flag.
Happy First Day of Spring Families,
Today we practiced the safety protocols for our first very lockdown this year. Our Grade 3's did an excellent job at keeping quiet and following the important procedures in keeping our teachers and students in the school safe and protected.
Students finished uploading their Instructions and reflection on Iris so they are ready to share with families at Student-Led Conferences. We have been looking at the different anthems of various countries and today we analyzed the meanings and important vocabulary in the lyrics of anthems. In their table groups, students then created their own anthems by describing characteristics, favourite colours, subjects, animals, sports and activities that represent the people in their group.
In Math we revisited regrouping with subtracting and the strategies to help us remember the rules for regrouping. Today we listened to a catchy rhyming poem to help us remember these rules. Remember Grade 3's: The more on top, no need to stop! More on the floor go next door and borrow 10 more. If the numbers are the same then 0 is the game. Students have been given 5 minutes each day and multiple opportunities to work on these math operational facts. This allows students to track their growth and improvement and continue to practice and strengthen their operational skills.. This is going to be a super short week with Spring Break just around the corner.
Reminders:
1. Please return field trip forms for the Bow Habitat.
2. Students please make sure to have a set of their own headphones for at school to use during individual computer activities.
3. Student Led Conference times for Thursday are available online for booking. We hope to see you all of you there!
4. Students who have individual parts in the school musical need to practice their lines.
5. We are starting to look for volunteers for our next field trip at the Bow Habitat Station on April 11. We will be learning about the life cycles of trout. We would really love for you to join us. Please email if you are able to volunteer.
6. Usborne Literacy Fair & Book Sale is coming to Evergreen School - March 23rd 2017 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
