Comment Challenge: Name some instruments that are traditional to different countries.
Good afternoon students and families,
Today was the last day of Bollywood Dancing! We were so lucky to have had such great dancers from Sound Kreations come to our school and teach us different cultural dances. In Math, students continued solving a math problem called Four Fours that required them to use the number 4 four times and the 4 different operations to come up with the solution 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. You can try to find solutions using this criteria all the way up to 20. Students should be able to explain this problem and show how to get started. We discussed how the importance of these math problems is not to get the answer right away but to try as many different ways as you can. These exercises help make more and stronger pathways in our brain and help us become better problem solvers! Students should be able to explain this problem. Ask your parents if they can help you find solutions to this problem.
In Social Studies, students continued their research using the online resource called Culturegrams on the Learn Alberta website to work on their mind maps. The link to the website is provided below with the username and password for students to do some exploring at home if they would like. You will be linked to the Learn Alberta Online Reference Center. It is in alphabetical order so you scroll down to Culturegrams and select Explore in the green box named Kids Education in the upper right hand corner. We learned today that you can have the text read out loud! Have fun exploring the different countries of the world Grade 3's! Tomorrow we will be doing some fun hands on work building some traditional instruments from Peru.
