Comment Challenge: We have seen some awesome presentations about different structures in the world from some of our students. What structures would you like to learn more about?
Hello students and families,
What a cold Thursday! Please make sure students bring appropriate clothing for the weather, so they are nice and warm when playing outdoors.
Students are excited to perform their hip hop routine choreographed by Sound Kreations tomorrow in the gym at 10:00 am! Families are welcome to come cheer on and support the students. We can't wait to see all their funky hip hop moves!
Today we had Ms. Smith visit our classroom and do an engaging activity around solving situational problems. Students always enjoy their time with Ms. Smith. In Math, students had a third try at addition with re grouping practice problems and we are seeing significant improvements from their first try. We will continue doing practice problem warm ups with subtraction, multiplication and soon division. We also began using our strategies for division by identifying and recording various division equations with our classroom supplies. It has been wonderful to watch student's perform read aloud stories in small groups for Reader's Theatre! Students have been giving each other specific and helpful feedback to each other about the speed, volume and expression in their voice and performance. Next week students will complete their typed instructions on their very own google doc and celebrate their learning by uploading it to IRIS.
We are hoping to finish our colourful weaved carpets and start hanging them in our classroom tomorrow! This is a very self directed activity that students can do themselves at home. All you need is some cardboard (A back of a cereal box works just fine), yarn that is not too thin which can be purchased at the dollar store, tape, scissors, a pencil, and a popsicle stick to help them weave. I will attach the youtube video link that shows how to set up a cardboard weaving loom if you want to try it at home! Parents can ask the students to teach them how to weave!

Please check out the Science link of our blog to find out about our upcoming visit to Fish Creek Park.
Reminders: Spelling test tomorrow! Could students please make sure to have a set of their own headphones for at school to use during individual computer activities. We are still looking for any last minute volunteers for Fish Creek on Monday the 13. We would really love for you to join us. Please email if you are able to volunteer.
Stay warm everyone. See you tomorrow!
