Comment Challenge: Name three or more components of a science experiment that we have practiced writing. (Can you name them all?)
Hello students and families,
Students continued improving their hip hop routine with the Sound Kreations dance artists in residency. Our class will be performing their hip hop routine on Friday at 10:00 in the Gym.
Today in Math students had another opportunity of doing some individual operations practice in strengthening their addition skills with regrouping. We were so excited to see that students are improving the accuracy and quantity of addition regrouping facts. We encourage students to practice adding 2 and 3 digit numbers, subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers and multiplication facts up to 5x5 at home to gain more confidence and accuracy in these areas. We also worked through a math problem that required our knowledge of arrays to determine the greatest area of of three different sized backyards on a grid.
In Science we tested an arch spanning a width of 30 cm to see if it could hold more weight than the 20 cm arch we tested yesterday. We discovered that it could not hold as much weight. Tomorrow we will finish off writing our conclusions for our experiment. Ask me what my prediction was for this experiment.
Students weaving looms are coming along beautifully and it is so wonderful to see all the colours and patterns come through. We hope to finish them up this week to hang and decorate our classroom. We finished the day off celebrating Qiqi's birthday. Happy Birthday Qiqi! Thank you for the delicious treats.
Please check out the Science link of our blog to find out about our upcoming visit to Fish Creek Park.
Reminders: It was a chilly recess and lunch this afternoon so make sure to bring lots of warm clothing so you are able to enjoy your recess and lunch time outside without being cold. We are still looking for any last minute volunteers for Fish Creek on Monday the 13. We would really love if you could join us, parents. Please email if you are able to volunteer.
Have a great evening. Stay warm!
