Happy Monday students and families!
Brr it's going to be a cold week! For the next two weeks we have the pleasure of learning some awesome new dances with our Sound Kreations dance artists in residency every day from 10:30-11:00. Today our class and Mrs. Leonard's class began learning a funky new hip hop routine! Ask me about the new hip hop moves I learned today! Our class will be performing their hip hop routine on Friday at 10:00 in the Gym. Families are welcome to come watch, support and cheer on the students!
Today as a class we began writing a list of important things for a special someone who is leaving our school. This will be a really nice piece of work that we as a class can share and be remembered by. Students had the opportunity of doing some individual operations practice in Math that will be continued on a daily basis to help students improve and strengthen their addition (with re grouping), subtraction (with re grouping), multiplication and soon to be division facts. Adding 2 and 3 digit numbers, subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers and multiplication facts up to 5x5 would be something students could definitely practice at home to gain more confidence and accuracy in these areas.
In Science we are learning about the importance and special characteristics of arches in structures. Arches are considered to be one of the strongest and oldest structures designed by humans. Today we tested to see how many grams a paper arch of a span of 20 cm could hold. At first we used regular paper which only held 25 grams before the arch collapsed. We then tried this experiment again only this time we used paper that was more sturdy and the arch was able to hold 100 grams. Tomorrow we will test to see if an arch spanning 30 cm will hold more weight than the arch spanning 20 cm. Think of your predictions or hypothesis Grade 3's!
Please check out the Science link of our blog to find out about our upcoming visit to Fish Creek Park.
Reminders: The weather is forecasted to be colder and colder each day this week so make sure to bring lots of warm clothing so you are able to enjoy your recess and lunch time outside without being cold. We are still looking for any last minute volunteers for Fish Creek on Monday the 13. We would really love if you could join us, parents. Please email if you are able to volunteer.
Have a wonderful evening everyone. Stay Warm!
