Comment Challenge: What was the most enjoyable learning experience of your week?
Happy weekend students and families!
Today we watched an inspiring video of Peruvians hand weaving a carpet. We discussed how weaving is a traditional artistry in Tunisia and Peru that is exported all over the world to make beautiful rugs and carpets. We began our very own weaving loom using cardboard and different coloured yarn! This was a new experience for most students and it definitely required patience and perseverance. It is wonderful to see the amazing patterned weaving hand work students are creating. They are looking beautiful Grade 3's and we can't wait to decorate our classroom with them! Students had an exciting and creative task in Gym with too many tennis balls and some other equipment. Ask me about my game or creation in Gym today!
We had the pleasure of watching one of our Reader's Theatre groups present their tale from Greece on The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Students are really improving on the speed, volume and character expressions in their presentations that capture the details of the story. We are looking forward to watching the remaining presentations. Next week we will continue with division and fractions in Math and in Science we will be looking at arches and bridges! Our Sound Kreations program is starting next week! It will be every day from 10:30 to 11:00.
Please check out the Science link of our blog to find out about our upcoming visit to Fish Creek Park.
Reminders: We are sad to say that we do not yet have any parent volunteers for our field trip to Fish Creek on March 13. It would really help to have some extra adults to help facilitate some small groups. We would really love if you could join us, parents. Please email if you are able to volunteer.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
