Comment Challenge: What other books do you know of or can find that have a Newberry medal?
Hello students and families!
Can you believe it is already March 1! Today we continued with our literacy centers. We only have two more centers to finish up for the week. We celebrated our 100th day of school all throughout the day with some fun activities and books. Ask me about the different things we did for 100 Day today. In Math, we continued working with fractions using our own classroom supplies.
Students had a full hour of Music today preparing and rehearsing for their Rock and Roll Musical. Finally, we began reading the adventures of Depereaux the mouse in our new read aloud, The Tale of Despereaux. We noticed that this book had a special shiny award on the cover called a John Newberry Medal which we then discussed and researched what this medal represents and which other children's books we have read also received this medal like The One and Only Ivan. Tomorrow we will finish typing up our instructions on our very first google doc that we started last week. In Social we will continue looking at customs and traditions of various countries.
Please check out the Science link of our blog to find out about our upcoming visit to Fish Creek Park.
Reminders: Spelling Quiz on Friday! Please return Fish Creek Park forms and University of Lethbridge research forms. We are still looking for volunteers for our field trip to Fish Creek on March 13. We would love if you could join us, parents. Please email if you are able to volunteer.
Have a great evening everyone!
