We got down and dirty as we explored the streets of Peru and Ukraine today! Well, not really, but we did use google street view to make connections between evidence and quality of life. Students also examined multiplication as arrays, as skip counting, and as repeated addition. They practiced this by creating arrays in their books, and explaining them in a number of ways. We'll be using this skill in the near future as students craft a "Want" house and a "Need" house as they buy stuff in our classroom market.
Tomorrow we are going to get the kids to scratch rocks with different instruments (including their fingernails), and we are going to have them sort based on hardness.
Please remember that the toy sale is on tomorrow, and the students will be doing a walk-through to purchase a toy for themselves or for a present for someone else. We will be going through the sale at 9:30.
Also, please note that there is no school this Friday for a professional development day for teachers.
Have an outstanding evening!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hordyk
Mr. MacKenzie
