We are extremely excited to have some professional artists coming in to work with the kids and with the teachers for the upcoming Visual Journaling project that we began today! It will take weeks to complete. Students are going to be using mixed media to craft a collage that represents a country of their choice from our Social Studies curriculum. Today, students began by finding images that represent the different countries.
Parents, if you have any artifacts from Tunisia, Peru, Ukraine, or India, could you please send an email to your classroom teacher? We will be exploring Cubism as we make artwork in our next project, and we would like to photograph them for this project.
Another project that we are working on is developing stories of our own. Today, students began the planning process by looking deeply at creating a suitable and plausible problem, and describing the setting in detail (considering all of the senses). The task is:
Choosing a genre of your choice, develop a story plan (and story) that has clear settings, characters, problem, and sequence of events. Your story must take place in Evergreen School, however Evergreen School may be a space ship, a school of magic, or some other learning environment of your choice.
The students are absolutely blasting off as they plan and develop their work!
Question of the Day:
Which country did you choose for your art project? Why?
