The kids have been learning about alliteration and have been creating alliterative sentences for their spelling words, and will be creating alliteration poetry. They were highly engaged as we went through the book, Animalia, by Graeme Base. In this book the illustrations and writing take you through the alphabet in an extremely creative and engaging way. We had students make their own alliterations for some of the pages.
Exponential growth may be over the head of our students, but they were given an extremely hard math challenge where each day, a character is given twice as much rice. The students were tasked with figuring out how much rice he got on the 30th day. This problem requires significant addition or multiplication skills to complete.
We are looking forward to tomorrow in math, when we continue our work with increasing patterns. If you are looking to practice at home: Kids will roll a dice once to get their starting number. Then they will roll the dice again to set the pattern rule. They will then write the next 5 numbers in the sequence, or they will be challenged to draw the pattern in their books.
