Math was great, the kids are working on fractions, and are developing a deeper understanding of size as they compare 1/4 with 1/8th for example. Without visuals and tools, students are often confused about how 1/8th could be smaller than 1/4 because 8 is bigger than 4. Half of the students played "Fraction War" today, while the other half worked on Fraction Avenue. Ask your child which they did today!
As part of our writing program, students have been writing letters to their teachers. Furthering that, we had the students write letters to Mrs. Macasy today, wishing her the best with her new job. They did great! The improvement in their letter writing from the beginning of the year until now is unbelievable. We're sure that Mrs. Macasy will enjoy receiving the letters from kids she's spent so much time with.
