This morning we continued the adventure with "Ticket to Curlew." The rest of the family has arrived by train to Curlew! This story is getting quite interesting and I'm sure that our learners would like to share with their family the latest updates for Chapter 5. We had some fruitful dialogue pertaining to what the new characters might be feeling and thinking in terms of their first impressions of Curlew.
We continued on with our work in math and have begun creating detailed schematics of cars with measurements in decimals. Perhaps learners can practice at home and measure some different objects with a ruler and ensure accuracy to the nearest tenth of a centimeter. It will be helpful for students to be well-versed with measuring and understanding decimals in preparation for further work with our bicycle stations.
Learners had the opportunity to finish their journal entries from last Friday pertaining to Two Stars and a Wish. Perhaps learners can share with their families thoughts that they consider to be Stars and Wishes.
We had an exciting afternoon with our bicycle stations. We have set up six different stations that learners had the opportunity to explore briefly in preparation for more detailed exploration this Thursday. I'm sure that our learners will have some captivating reflections to share with their families about this hands-on activity that combines math, science art and many practical life skills. More updates to follow on Thursday for this intriguing activity!
