It was a "fun, weird day" according to a student as she walked out the door. We had guest speakers, guest teachers, and bike celebrations among a boatload of learning.
Students continued building their paragraphs and entered the final stage of non-fiction writing: publishing. We're going to get their writing up on the internet by the end of the week, and we're going to have their work printed, too. They are continuing to work on topic sentences that hook the reader and tell what the paragraph is about.
Data collection is another upcoming task that we are working on. How do we read charts? How do we make graphs? What information is better represented visually? These are questions that students are going answer as they take steps to enhance how they represent information to solve problems. Some of the students will be experimenting with games, while the other students will be collecting traffic data and making suggestions to the community association.
Upcoming Dates:
Friday, June 5: Please return the "Class Pet" field trip forms and $10 to cover the costs.
Friday, June 5: Volunteer Tea and Grade 4 Assembly
Wednesday, June 10: Class Pet in-school field trip
Question of the Day:
Look at the climograph below. What can we expect to be the average temperature in Calgary for the month of June? (Hint: Look at the red line)
