Students had opportunities to test their cars by coasting them down a ramp and measuring the coasting distance. Concepts related to "Fair Testing" were used for consistency, such as with how cars are released, how measurements were taken and averages through the use of three trial runs. In measuring distances and calculating averages, students had to use their knowledge and skills related to decimals.
Students had the opportunity this afternoon to create informational posters pertaining to the recent events in Fort McMurray to help raise awareness for our Cultural Evening tonight. Students researched different areas, such as:: information and facts about Fort McMurray, how forest fires work, current support being offered, pertinent maps of the area.
In continuing the topic of "Stress" from yesterday, students had the opportunity to watch a video pertaining to stress and how it affects physiological and psychological functioning. The class engaged in dialogue pertaining to strategies that can be used to monitor, reduce or mitigate stress in daily life. It was useful that many students were able to share strategies that they found to be helpful and practical. Students may want to share some of the strategies they learned, or have already been practicing, with their family members.
