Hello,
Today our learners had the opportunity to watch a Celtic musical performance by Kiérah, who played several pieces she had written herself on the fiddle. Leaners had the opportunity to ask questions and I imagine that some students were quite inspired by her musical talent!
Learners finished their decimal drawings today in preparation for the Bicycle Stations activity this afternoon. This activity combines the studies of simple machines in science and different areas of mathematics as well as life skills, such as changing a tire and using a variety of hand tools. Learners worked in small groups at a single station for the duration of the activity so that they could fully explore the aspects of their particular station. Learners use their visual journals for their stations and record their observations, insights and understandings. Learners will have the opportunity to rotate to another station next week to further expand their understandings of math, science and art.
Please note that, last Monday (May 9th), a yellow notice went home with our learners regarding the Lunch Lady school lunch program (www.thelunchlady.ca). For those who are still interested, you may visit the above website and register for the program through the "Order Now" feature. The Next date for which this program will be offered in our school is on June 16th.
Thanks,
Mr. Smith.
