Parents, we've created a new site on our webpage for Digital Citizenship. Although it is mostly bare-bones currently, it will be filled with information soon enough!
Please have your kids check in with you regularly about their internet use, especially on social media sites. We went through a lesson today, and more than a few students admitted to making mistakes (ie. giving too much information about themselves away to complete strangers online). We will try and be proactive and teach Digital Citizenship skills here, but things are always better when reinforced at home!
Mrs. Bean (fourth grade teacher fame) volunteered to teach drumming to the third grade kids for 30 minutes each day this week. Drumming is tied to cultures throughout the world and is renowned as a wonderful tool for self-regulation. Mrs. Bean will be working with kids on developing a steady rhythm and beat, and she will provide opportunities for kids to come up with beats of their own!
Please be advised that the Brier Field trip is coming up very soon! This Wednesday we will be boarding a bus the moment the bell rings. Also, please remember that kids should eat an enormous breakfast before we leave the school because we can't eat at the Saddledome nor on the bus.
Have an outstanding evening!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hordyk
