Noticing that students are demonstrating greater independence, we've introduced a new way to do spelling stations where students can pick and choose which ones they feel help them learn the most. For example, students may choose to put their spelling words in an alliterative poem, in a rhyming poem, or in an acrostic poem. Students are expected to make a straight line in any direction on the tic tac toe board, each week. The spelling words are individualized (from their guided reading books, frequently misspelled words in their writing books, or are high frequency words).
Students have submitted their project proposals for their upcoming research project. The web page for this project can be found here. If you have time, click around the link at the bottom of the page.
We are excited about how students are going to use their imagination when creating their alliterative sentences.
