"Wait! Can we do our story from home? Can we do our Social Studies any time??"
-A Third Grade Student
We've introduced the kids to their gmail accounts today, and they were absolutely thrilled. Although there are some glitches to work out, most of the kids are now fully-functional on writing email, creating documents in the cloud, and sharing their work with peers. Each student in our classroom was tasked with sending an email to their teachers today. We discussed the difference between text-messaging, letter writing, and emailing, as well as digital citizenship.
Students are continuing their year-long exploration on being a global citizen. Half of the class has started our new project where they identified problems throughout the world and starting thinking about the people/organizations that work to solve those problems. Children were tasked with connecting to their own experiences with such organizations (Stephen's Backpack, Hop for Muscular Dystrophy, etc.). The students will take their learning from their past projects and take the next step as they persuade others.
Upcoming Dates:
Wednesday, June 10: Teacher's Pet - our students will be creating a playground. We are very short on volunteers. Please let us know if you can come!!
Thursday, June 11: Fish Creek Park - in the afternoon we will be taking the students to Fish Creek Park to explore wetlands and forests, and to learn about life cycles.
Question of the Day:
What is used more, 2-wheel vehicles or cars? What is the difference?
