I love at the end of the morning when students complain because they don't want to go... Today was jam-packed, though, so I understand why they felt like it went so quickly.
We had a biology professor from Mount Royal University come in today to discuss how the ear works. The students were able to see all of the parts in 3D. They even saw REAL ossicles! If you would like to see the models that were shown to the students today, we have included some pictures on our Science Blog.
We also explored another material in art today. The students got messy (but not as messy as yesterday!) while they explored oil pastels. They, again, experimented with pressure, smudging, and color choice. They will eventually be creating a portrait on their own.
Next week is going to be really exciting. They are going to share their suspenseful stories with others to receive feedback. They are also going to read the beginnings of books to determine how authors hook readers.
Reminders:
1. Lids if possible. No rush, but we'll certainly use them.
2. Maps. Old maps, new maps, maps from brochures on your family adventures. Just any kind of maps!
Have an excellent weekend.
Sincerely,
Mr. MacKenzie
