This morning students continued to practice their note-taking skills with the Taj Mahal. We began by brainstorming what questions we want answered about the beautiful building, and then watched a short video about it. We paused the video frequently to identify keywords and paraphrase the information into our own dot jot notes. We will continue to practice note-taking throughout the rest of the year.
This afternoon students had a special treat with Mrs. M! She taught us various phrases and counting in several languages, particularly Swahili and Hindi. We talked about which languages are spoken in our classroom, and how all languages have similarities (Mrs. M told us how Hindi, Kachii, Gujrati and Urdu and are spoken in the same regions and near each other in India, so they have many similar words). Ask your student how to say hello and thank you in Swahili! (Jambo and assante sana!) What languages do you speak at home?
We are getting excited for our upcoming field trips! If you have any skating forms at home please send them in.
Have a wonderful evening!
