Today students began learning about contractions and the very important apostrophe! A contraction is when I take two words and combine them to make a shorter word. Students were excited to try new combinations, and see which ones they use regularly! I am very excited to see how this will improve our writing!
We also looked at bridges - both arch and suspension. This afternoon students used plasticene to create their own arch bridge, draw it and record how many grams it would hold before collapsing. Students then kept improving their bridge designs by adding other architectural details (for example, a pillar) and testing the new bridge. We will be continuing this tomorrow.
Reminders!
Have a wonderful evening, enjoy the sun!
