This morning students were writing machines! Students combined all of the components of writing we have been discussing - great beginnings, interesting/juicy words, setting, character, problem and solution - into one story. We made "I can" statements to help during the writing process. Students were inspired and wrote some incredible stories! I cannot wait to read them all!
We also began a new math project today. Students built a variety of "monsters" out of base ten blocks with a total value of no more then 399. Students drew a variety of monsters and recorded their value using expanded notation. We will be using these monsters next week to battle and defeat "boss monsters".
I have sent home the rest of the conglomerate rocks that were not claimed yesterday, as well as the students Earths. These Earths are formed out of plasticine and show the four layers of our Earth. I hope you enjoy them!
Quick reminder that tomorrow is PD Day, so there is no school! I will see everyone on Monday!
I hope you and your families have a stupendous long weekend!
