Good afternoon everyone!
This morning we continued our Genius Hour by breaking into partners and discussing our question. Students then webbed what other questions their original question made them think of (for example, if I was asking how our voices work, that makes me wonder what happens when I am sick? and how does my voice control volume?).
We also started a very interesting new program! In preparation of the upcoming Hour of Code event, students were introduced to coding. Students were introduced to the words algorithm and program, and used step by step instructions (an algorithm) to build an image. Students created a program with arrows in order to tell someone else how to create the image. Each Friday, we will have the next step in building our understanding of coding. The purpose of coding is to build our problem solving skills in a context different than math. Students really enjoyed this activity, ask your student if they can build a program and image!
Have a wonderful weekend! I hope you all enjoy the sun!
