We had an action-packed morning! Evergreen School was visited by Dr. Alexandria Farmer, a professor at Mount Royal University. She came with some interactive activities and models to continue our learning about hearing and sound. Students were fascinated by the brain and large ear model, not to mention the genuine ossicle bones!
We also began our very first Genius Hour! This will be a time for students to pick a question that they are interested in, then research and present their findings. For our first genius hour cycle we are going to investigate hearing and sound! Today we talked about the difference between open and closed questions (one leads to more questions, the other can be answered quickly), and wrote some of our wonders about hearing and sound down. Ask your student to tell you one of their questions, and if it is open or closed!
On Monday we are going to be continuing our discussion of maps, if you have any extra maps of any kind at home that you would be willing to donate to the classroom, then please send them in! We will be manipulating and dissecting them in the next few weeks, and the more variety the better!
Have a wonderful weekend!
