We had our second week of on-computer coding time today! Students are very engaged with the problem solving aspect of coding, and work together on different levels. If your student wants to start coding at home this website http://code.org/learn has a wide variety of activities and programs for many different levels and ages!
This morning we read Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters about Nyasha and Manyara. This is an African legend about two sisters, one who is compassionate and one who is selfish. As a class we discussed how Nyasha shows kindness to others around her, and why Manyara makes poor choices. Ask your student which sister they think would make a better friend and why!
Upcoming Events:
I have been looking at upcoming field trips after the Winter Break! We are going to the Bell Music Centre on January 18th, Fish Creek Park on January 31st and skating at the Olympic Oval on February 6th, 8th and 14th. I will need some parent volunteers for all of these trips! If you would like to join us please send me an email with the date and field trip that you are able to join us with.
Have a wonderful weekend!
