What a wonderful way to start the week! Students came in focused and ready to learn.
This morning, students "battled" their monsters against the super villains. In order to beat the villain, they need to collect 50 points. Ask your child how they collected their points. It was a lot of fun using addition and estimation. Tomorrow we will battle the next villain.
In the afternoon, students were given a plan to begin organizing their thoughts and ideas for a story. We discussed the importance of planning prior to writing and how it improves the quality of our work. Students began to write planning for characters, setting, problem and introduction. We will be continuing to add more description in our planning guides to complete a published piece for the classroom library or learning commons.
Students gathered data about the various types of rocks. We began with igneous and sedimentary. This data will be used to help explain how the rock cycle works as well to help them in identifying different features of their unknown rock.
Thank you to the parents who have already emailed me about being able to volunteer for the upcoming field trips in the new year. We are still in need of 2 for each day.
Upcoming events:
No school - Friday, December 2
Winter Concert - November 30 - Kindergarten - Grade 2 only. The Grade 3's will have their own performance later in the new year.
Have a wonderful evening!
