What an amazing day!
Even with all the excitement of Halloween, students had a clear understanding that learning was still going to happen. They put forth their best focus and efforts for the entire day.
This morning students were introduced to a new math project. Given a set of criteria, they are designing their own hotel. In the hotel they are to meet the following criteria:
Must use a ruler
Must be between 15 and 28 cm tall
Must be between 20 and 30 cm wide
Must have the following polygons:
- 10 quadrilateral
- 4 triangles
- 1 irregular polygon
Must have a repeating pattern
Must have a growing pattern
At first they weren't sure what they were supposed to be creating as the vocabulary was quite new to them. We brainstormed ways to find out the information. This brought on a whole new conversation of finding words in alphabetical order and nonfiction text features. Students quickly applied their new understanding of the language and moved onto their next challenge; using a ruler correctly.
In the afternoon we had a celebration of our learning.
A reminder that picture orders are due tomorrow.
I am asking that candy be left at home.Thanks.
Have a wonderful evening! Be safe!
