Every week we have a goal that we are working towards. This week's goal is to keep our goop together. We brainstormed ways in which we can remain focused and complete our work.
This morning we reviewed what multiplication is and how it is related to addition. We came to the conclusion multiplication is:
- equal groups
- repeated addition
- skip counting
Students rolled a dice (some were 20 sided!) twice to determine their multiplication sentence. They then solved the question using their personal strategy. It is amazing how quickly they represented their learning. Tomorrow we will be using our knowledge of multiplication to calculate our order sheets for our Gingerbread Emporium.
Typing is a skill that is essential. Students spent some time on Dance Mat Typing to build their knowledge and confidence of the homerow. To challenge themselves, put a piece of paper over their fingers to encourage them to look at the screen versus their fingers. After they've practiced, we will be typing up our stories.
We finished the afternoon with a fire drill. Students knew about it ahead of time and were fully bundled up.
Have a wonderful evening!
