Have you ever read a book, and then watched the movie? Has the movie ever been better than the book? We are watching Hoot, the movie, little by little, and we're never ahead of the story I am reading to the class. It is interesting to see how the students are comparing and contrasting the screenplay verses the book! Today, a number of students figured that some elements were left out of the movie because it was geared towards kids (for example, Beatrix steals a bike in the book, but it is left out of the movie). This critical thinking skill is very important as they move forward in their education.
Students have also (finally!) uploaded their reflections to IRIS today. I am thrilled at how reflective they are becoming. They are beginning to understand the importance of reflecting on your work based on criteria.
Reminders:
1. Please return the forms for the yearbook as soon as you can!
All the best,
Mr. MacKenzie
