In our book, Alton is obsessed with maps! His parents named him after a town on a map and all of his decorations and toys as a kid were maps. Alton is a Geocacher and now, so are the students of room 82! This morning, the students examined maps and developed criteria about what makes them clear. How do they, as Alton reflected in the story, help us to become 'precise thinkers and careful observers'?
In the afternoon the students made their first maps. They hid their geocaches and all of the other groups sought them out. Students were succesful based on the clarity of the maps.
Tomorrow we are going to complete our letters to soldiers, as well as our Virtue Poetry.
