We're learning about reading non-fiction for understanding. Today, the students began an article that discussed the differences between rocks and minerals. It also defined attributes and characteristics that geologists use to classify rocks. This morning, for example, the students began learning about the word 'Lustre'. You can review the article here.
The students also went through a number of review activities involving subtraction. They also looked at borrowing in complex problems. Using base-10 blocks, the students converted 10s to 1s and hundreds to 10s. Tomorrow we will continue this learning.
Tomorrow we are also excited to get our hands on some rocks, sort them by specific attirbutes and use a table to identify what they are.
Have an excellent night,
Mr. MacKenzie
