There is an outstanding video below that discusses the life cycle of the turtle, their adaptations, and the perils of their survival. This video, as well, was used as a way to model note taking for students. They learned to take point form, jot notes. This learning will be applied to their upcoming marriage of Science and Art when the research an animal of their choosing, and develop an interactive visual journal page (and hopefully an animation like the one below) that described that animal's life-cycles.
They were introduced to a fairly straight-forward fraction game that allowed them to compare, sort, and build fractions as part of a whole. They were incredibly engaged, and had no idea they were practicing and building a deeper understanding of fractions!
Tomorrow we're going to revisit some 'Unthinkables', namely the Destroyer of Fun, who gets out and ruins competitive recess games and other team or individual sports.
