Wow, what a great bunch of kids! It's incredible how quickly a classroom community can form. We spent the day talking about learning: What do we need to do to be successful? What do we need from teachers? What does it mean to 'think big'? To invent? To be creative? Students also began an art project where they were challenged to discuss themselves as learners, to share their excitement, and to add some color to our walls.
We also went over routines and expectations around entering and exiting the building and how to deal with social situations on the playground. For your record, we will be teaching students the acronym, "IMATT". I believe so strongly in this strategy that I have taught it to my own children at home!

I am thrilled that tomorrow we are going to spend more time getting to know each other. We are going to dive right into a mathematics assessment.
Please remember that if you have any questions/concerns/comments you can email me at [email protected] any time. I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
All the best,
Mike MacKenzie
