What a busy day! We looked at math, we discussed IMATT, and we continued our artwork that focusses on our excitement for the upcoming year. In math students were asked a number of difficult questions that involved skip counting by 2, 5, 10, 100, and 25. Seeing what they were able to do will help me to plan accordingly.
When we looked at IMATT, the students did some brain storming about contentious situations around the classroom and the playground. Afterwards, we role-played a number of them and had fun as we solved these problems together. Some of the situations are in the photograph below.
Tomorrow we're going to get the kids logged onto computers. Be prepared, we'll be emailing, using collaborative documents, and exploring the web in different ways. Speaking of which, there was a document that was sent home. If you would like your children to bring their technology to school (for learning!), please read and sign the contract that went home. I strongly encourage the use of technology in appropriate ways, within the classroom. There will be more on this in the future.
All the best,
Mike MacKenzie
