Good afternoon families,
Today we began our day testing out The Great Apes Survival game and generated a list of questions, suggestions and things we learned from the game! We are skype calling the creator of the game on Friday to discuss how the game was created and to have some of our wonders answered! We are so excited! Ask me what I learned from this game and some questions I added to the list.
Next we continued writing our non-fiction paragraphs about the animal we are studying and their life cycle. Ask me which paragraph I am on. What criteria did I have to include to ensure I had a complete paragraph?
After snack we had gym with Mr. MacKenzie's class. Ask me what we learned in gym today.
In math we had to solve a math challenge. Our school was donated $75.00 to purchase supplies for gym. We had to figure out how many items we could purchase from the list without going over. These numbers used decimals so we learned a new strategy to add them together! Ask me what needs to happen when adding decimal numbers together.
After lunch we had our Marshall Springs transition meeting with Miss Nicole the OT. Ask me what I learned about middle school today. How can I be more prepared for school and learning?
We had afternoon recess and came in just in time to miss the rain! Thank goodness!
We helped our grade one buddies create a google drawing about the life cycle of the animal they are studying. Ask me what animal my buddy is studying.
We ended the day signing out a new book in the learning commons! Check the reminders below for information about the last day to sign out books!

Evergreen for ALS
Our school is participating in a community walk to support the ALS Society of Alberta on Thursday, June 1, 2017. This is a cause that has directly impacted our school this year. Approximately 3 000 Canadians live with ALS. There is no known cause or cure for this devastating disease - yet.
All proceeds from our walk will stay in Alberta to make each day the best possible day for people living with and affected by ALS. Please use the link below if you would like to make an online donation. Our School ALS Donation Page with the ALS Society of Alberta: EVERGREEN FOR ALS . We thank you for your support!
Parents and community members are invited to join us at Evergreen School on Thursday June 1st from 6:00pm to 7:00pm for an informative session with Dr. Lawrence Korngut. Dr. Korngut will be sharing information about ALS and current promising research. Dr. Korngut is a neurologist at the Calgary Neuromuscular Clinic and is the Director of the Calgary ALS and Motor Neuron Disease Clinic. His research includes clinical trials of new therapies for neuromuscular conditions. Please RSVP to this event before May 25th at [email protected]
