Good afternoon families,
Today we began our day cleaning and organizing our spaces and desks. We decided yesterday after our transition to middle school meeting that we needed to organize ourselves to prepare for next year! Ask me what I had to clean today and why.
Then we sketched out our design for our tennis ball people! We are creating a classroom mobile of tennis ball people to hang in our room for the remainder of the year. This art project required each child to think outside the box when deciding what features to add, what colours to use and what materials to incorporate. Ask me what I designed for my tennis ball person and what materials I need! Then we painted our tennis ball people. Ask me what colour mine is. Did I mix any colours to get the perfect shade?
Next Mrs. Smith came to teach us about wonders and sea creatures. Ask me what I learned today with Mrs. Smith. Ask me what creatures she brought in to show us!
After recess we had snack and read halfway through the last chapter in Harry Potter. Ask me what is happening right now in the story! Who is my favourite character and why?
Then we had social studies. We are focusing on the four countries for the remainder of the year. Today we studied Tunisia and added pop ups to our Tunisia journal page. Ask me what I learned about Tunisia today. Which countries surround Tunisia? Which body of water is Tunisia touching? What did I learn about Tunisia's flag today. We worked so hard in social studies we accidentally went right through our math work time! Please practice some multiplication and division questions tonight!
After lunch we typed out the first two paragraphs we have written about the animals we are studying. Ask me what I wrote about today. Once we finished typing we got some time to go on coding or mathletics! Ask me what I worked on when I finished typing my paragraphs today.
We ended the day with gym and music. Ask me what I learned in gym and music today.
- Miss Tennis

Evergreen for ALS
Our school is participating in a community walk to support the ALS Society of Alberta on Thursday, June 1, 2017. This is a cause that has directly impacted our school this year. Approximately 3 000 Canadians live with ALS. There is no known cause or cure for this devastating disease - yet.
All proceeds from our walk will stay in Alberta to make each day the best possible day for people living with and affected by ALS. Please use the link below if you would like to make an online donation. Our School ALS Donation Page with the ALS Society of Alberta: EVERGREEN FOR ALS . We thank you for your support!
Parents and community members are invited to join us at Evergreen School on Thursday June 1st from 6:00pm to 7:00pm for an informative session with Dr. Lawrence Korngut. Dr. Korngut will be sharing information about ALS and current promising research. Dr. Korngut is a neurologist at the Calgary Neuromuscular Clinic and is the Director of the Calgary ALS and Motor Neuron Disease Clinic. His research includes clinical trials of new therapies for neuromuscular conditions. Please RSVP to this event before May 25th at [email protected]
