Next week at a glance:
We will be continuing with the Student Learning Assessments. We will be working on the computer portion of the numeracy SLA.
Language Arts:
As we continue with the Daily Five this week our mini lessons will focus on developing the comprehension strategy of asking questions throughout the reading process.
Math
We will be practicing our different stations to continue to develop number sense.
The concepts that will be covered by the stations will be:
-Extend a given skip counting sequence by 5s, 10s, or 100s forward and backward, using a given starting point.
-Extend a given skip counting sequence by 3s, forward and backward, starting at a given multiple of 3.
-Extend a given skip counting sequence by 3s, forward and backward, starting at a given multiple of 3.
-Using mental math strategies for adding two digit numbers.
-Discovering different combinations of numbers that add together to make 100.
-Choosing from a variety of materials like playing cards, flash cards and written equations to practice their mental math strategies (basic facts).
-Playing a game called Place Value Blast off, this game will help students to understand place value of numbers up to 1000.
Science
We will continue our work with hearing and sound.
-We will learn that there are different ways of measuring the loudness of sounds and that loud sounds pose a danger to the ear.
We will describe changes in hearing that result from continued exposure to loud noise and from the natural process of aging.
Social Studies
We will use what we know about quality of life to write a class Important Book about what the students believe to be most important to having a good quality of life.
