Some Exemplars of Non-Fiction writing
The National Geographic is a well known, and always engaging organization. They fill their famous magazine with stories from around the globe that are connected directly to the people, the places, and the wild world in a way that grabs our attention. Spend some time going through this magazine, you will find that you never want to stop reading!
There was this class from last year, at Evergreen School that studied India, Tunisia, Peru, and Ukraine. Let's not forget about the work they have done! You could even go through the rubric we made (oops, I have it away!) as you think about what makes an outstanding non-fiction paragraph.
This website is filled with current news (right up to the election!). Browse and enjoy all of the stories here. This is written for children in elementary school. What can you learn about here?
Mechanically inclined? Or just interested in how things work? Or are you just into Science? This is the site for you! Check out Popular Mechanics.
