Last week the students set goals around being safe, being kind, and being respectful as individual goals. For this week, we are going to be reviewing each of those and embracing teachable moments to detail and describe what each means. The students are challenged to be safe, kind, and respectful in the classroom and everywhere else throughout their day!
We began the mapping process of our Frisbee Golf course though using shapes (pentagons, hexagons, triangles, quadrilaterals, etc.) with elastics to show where our course is. We have also discussed the data collection required to set criteria for par at our course. What par is a 25m hole, for example?
The students also continued their work on connecting an animal's life cycle to survival. For instance, through laying 300 eggs, the mantis has a better chance of survival than if it only had 1 or 2.
Tomorrow will be our second transition planning session with the occupational therapist. Noting that students are a bit nervous about this transition, we have asked for and received more time for role playing, activities, and discussion around this topic.
Have an excellent evening!

3. Evergreen for ALS
Our school is participating in a community walk to support the ALS Society of Alberta on Thursday, June 1, 2017. This is a cause that has directly impacted our school this year. Approximately 3 000 Canadians live with ALS. There is no known cause or cure for this devastating disease - yet.
All proceeds from our walk will stay in Alberta to make each day the best possible day for people living with and affected by ALS. Please use the link below if you would like to make an online donation. Our School ALS Donation Page with the ALS Society of Alberta: EVERGREEN FOR ALS . We thank you for your support!
