Over the course of the year, students have been reading a variety of books for different purposes. Once of the best opportunities for students to learn to love reading is guided reading. During this time, students read with their teacher and with a small group of students, and they read books they have chosen based on enjoyment and reading needs. Nearly all of the groups are finishing up their novels at this point, and so they have chosen (or will be choosing) key moments in the story that could be used to create a readers' theatre script. Near the end of the year, all of the students will have an opportunity to share their script and their reading with the class.
In order to find the links, head to the "Language Arts" blog by clicking on the left. Once there, students can click on their book title under the 'categories' section and follow the link. Please note that they are working documents, and there aren't any groups that are finished!
In Science today, the students learned how to make an 'interactive' element for their visual journal page. We are learning how to appropriately sort and organize information in our visual journal pages, so that viewers are not overwhelmed or needing to squint to read the writing.
Tomorrow will be another big day! We'll continue working on our art project with the artist in residence, working on our screenplays, and building our visual journals!
Have an outstanding night,
Mr. MacKenzie
