Wednesdays are busy days... They met with their guided reading groups to focus on individual reading needs and comprehension skills. They also spent some time brainstorming and grouping needs and wants. Tomorrow they will be sorting them from the most important to the least.
The students were also introduced to 'Glass Man' today. The Glass Man is a villain that gets into your brain and causes you to overreact. The students had to use thinking strategies to defeat the glass man. The first strategy was to sort the problem in your mind from a 1 (small problem) to a 10 (a large problem). The students brainstormed problems and we sorted them as a class. We found that there is a big difference between what students perceived as a 10 and what they actually were.
Tomorrow we are going to be building a 3D model of the Earth. The students will be using plasticine to make the globe, then they will be cutting it open to show all of the Earth's layers.
Have an excellent evening!
