Students came into class wondering if there was an elf or not. It was quite fascinating scan the classroom for the elf. As a class we created "rules". The biggest was, if we focus, the elf will stay.
This morning we had an opportunity to practice and use our problem-solving skills with coding. We watched a short video explaining how programming is quickly becoming a new skill like reading and writing. It is something that can be applied in different areas. Students went to code.org/learn and worked on developing their coding skills. It was interesting as they were challenged in a new concept and how they respond to this challenge. Some took it as a learning opportunity, while others were stretched.
This afternoon students created a rubric of how we will be marking their stories. They were given 30 minutes of uninterupted writing time to work on their stories.
Have a wonderful evening!
