Good afternoon families,
Today we began our day by finishing recording our Reader's Theatre performances. Ask me which performance was my favourite. We gave each other verbal feedback on what we noticed they did well and what they can try for next time.
During snack we finished the Harry Potter book! Ask me what I thought of the ending. Ask me what my favourite part of the book was. Who was my favourite character? Why?
Next we finished typing out our non-fiction paragraphs and printed them! Ask me if I finished my non-fiction writing today or not. Why was I unable to finish today?
We had gym with Mr. MacKenzie's class today. Ask me what we learned in gym today.
Then we watched our Readers' Theatre performances on the SMARTboard so we could self assess our fluency, presentation and voice skills. Was I able to pause at periods, read at an appropriate pace and use a speed that matched my character? Was I able to use the right tone and incorporate gestures and actions? Was I following along the whole time and making sure our performance ran smoothly? Did I speak clearly, enunciate my words and consider (!..?) in my expression? Ask me what I wrote about when thinking of things I did well and things I would work on for next time!
After lunch Miss Tennis and Mrs. Leonard read us a picture book about ALS. This book was very hard for them to read without tearing up as it reminded them of their friend Mrs. Y who was diagnosed with ALS this year. Ask me what I learned about ALS today.
Next Miss Nicole Maclean our school OT came to meet with us about our transition to middle school. We used a calendar to make a plan for a book report. We also talked about stress and how to cope! What did I learn about today? What was the most important thing I learned?
We had afternoon recess with Mrs. Leonard's class then we met our grade one buddies in the learning commons. We shared our "Who Am I?" animal poems with our buddies and had them try to guess what our animal was! Ask me if they guessed correctly or not.
We ended the day playing our new multiplication math game with a partner! Ask me who my partner was and who won.
