Every time we teach dialogue, we're reminded of how hard it is for third grade students to understand. Students did, however, demonstrate that (for the most part) they are able to apply the rules we have taught them (comma placement, quotation marks, new lines for new speakers).
Math was an absolute blast today! Ask your child what they purchased for their rooms. To teach subtraction, students began with a certain amount of money and were able to purchase products (couches, tables, chairs, fridge, etc.) to glue onto their rooms (grid paper). The classroom was absolutely abuzz with learning.
Tomorrow we are going to be doing more work with subtraction, we'll be continuing our work with dialogue, and we'll continue looking at quality of life in different countries around the world.
Please remember that there will be no school on Friday as teachers have professional development. Also, please note that we have finally worked out a new seating arrangement that we will roll out tomorrow!
Have an excellent evening,
Mrs. Hordyk
