Today we brought back "Just Write" for a brief period, which was interesting because we hadn't practiced our "writing stamina" for some time. The students all wrote pages, upon pages of thoughts, ideas, stories, and poetry. This period really showed us how much all of the students have grown since the beginning of the year!
Daily 5 was very impressive today, too. Students were tasked with finishing their spelling stations, accurately self-reflecting, and reading in a number of settings (guided reading, buddy reading, and independent reading). Students are currently working on building connections in their reading. This strategy was reinforced today as we filled in Venn Diagrams about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (not to worry, we only watched snippets of the two movies and are reading the entire book!).
Speaking of reading and writing, we have a few student blogs that are up and running, and more on the way!
Please check them out, the students' work is very impressive!
Literature Review - A blog dedicated to reviewing and discussing a variety of books and other literature.
Mr. Personification - A blog bursting at the seams with rich, deep poetry.
SCRATCH That! And Other Such Stuff - A blog with coding tutorials and other random areas of fascination.
Mr. Pianokeys - A blog that shares the love of music with examples of classical music and other piano-related excitement.
**PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL THURSDAY, FRIDAY (TEACHERS' CONVENTION) AND MONDAY (FAMILY DAY). **
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What are 3 things that are the same in the two movies and the book of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
