From Quest practice and auditions to developing a streetscape of our own, the students have been busy thinking, doing, and performing all day long! Furthermore, they've exceeded our expectations for behavior and have impressed with their ever-growing crafting of quality material.
The plays are really coming along, as our Quest Theatre artists in residence have worked with the students through fun (perhaps silly?) warm-up routines. The children love them, though, and are clearly more ready and willing to take a chance in their acting afterwards. We can't wait for Friday to see the performances!
Performing in math, the students have been working on "Fraction Avenue". The kids are using fractions to create a street that meets certain criteria, given in fractions. They have also started thinking about fraction riddles that will entice their audience to look deeper into their created world...
Upcoming Events:
Friday, May 22: This is very important! Please, please, please try and come to the school to celebrate the learning we are doing with Quest! The performance will begin at 6.
Friday, June 5: We have sent home invitations for a volunteer celebration. For volunteers there will be tea first thing in the morning, and then you will be honored at the grade 4 assembly. Please RSVP asap!
** Students in Tunisia have written a script that can be found on this page. They were also given a paper copy to practice their performance at home. **
Question of the Day:
Just like our "Fraction Avenue" project, you can find fractions in anything. Looking at the picture below of teachers' cars, answer the following questions:
1. What fractions represents how many cars are yellow?
2. What fraction represents how many cars are gray?
3. What fraction represents how many cars go fast?
